Marshall Willen: an ultra compact speaker
As a reminder, with the Willen, Marshall offers its most compact portable speaker to date. It displays measurements of 101.6 x 100.5 x 40.4 millimeters for 316 grams on our scale. The speaker is covered with a soft touch coating reminiscent of its patterns that which adorns the brand’s amplifiers with a protective grille for the single 2-inch full-range speaker associated with a 10W class D amplifier and supported by two passive radiators in order to expand the bass register (the rear has a grille allowing air to circulate). The manufacturer announces IP67 certificationspecifying that the enclosure is made of 60% recycled plastic and that it does not contain PVC.
The Willen offers a button for Bluetooth pairing (as well as Stack mode allowing you to pair several Willens), a 5 LED indicator for the battery level, a perforation for the microphone, as well as an multi-directional control button on the front to manage power, music playback, volume and call answering. On the back, the chassis has edges allowing the speaker to be placed flat without muffling the sound (a grille serving as a vent on the rear side) and the speaker stands out by having a practical rubber strap which allows you to simply attach the device to a handlebara tube or any other support.
The dedicated application will allow you to perform firmware updates, consult the battery level, and opt for 3 equalization presets, Marshall
, Push
(more bass and treble) and Voice
(reinforcing the mids in order to highlight the vocals). We were able to verify the announced autonomy of 15 hours at moderate volumeand it will only take 3 hours to recharge the speaker thanks to the USB-C port (fast charging offers 3 hours of listening in 20 minutes).
