Judges brush aside defense complaints: Trafigura corruption trial in Angola continues

The long pleadings of the defense did not move the judges of the Federal Criminal Court, who quickly dismissed on Tuesday morning almost all of the complaints raised the day before in Bellinzona against the prosecution, targeting acts of corruption committed in Angola by the oil trading giant Trafigura as well as three defendants, all presumed innocent. We will therefore be able to exploit the statements of Mariano Marcondes Ferraz, former executive of the Geneva firm, convicted in Brazil and Switzerland, who cooperated with the authorities in exchange for a reduced sentence. He is not this “crown witness” who was promised immunity to accuse his ex-employer. The question had already been dealt with during the investigation.
