During the night from Saturday to Sunday, a car was speeding along the departmental 936 which crosses the town of Lamonzie-Saint-Martin according to several witnesses who called the gendarmes. Around 12:50 a.m., the driver of this vehicle lost control before ending up hitting the ditch in front of a house located on the outskirts of the town, then violently hitting a stone culvert. The four young people inside this imposing Peugeot 2008 were seriously injured in the collision. Witnesses who saw the accident notified emergency services.

Vital prognoses are engaged

When firefighters arrived on scene, they discovered the victims who were unconscious. Aged 19 to 23, these four young people all come from different villages located around the scene of the accident. They were transported to several hospitals, one in , another in Périgueux, and the last two in . This Sunday morning, the vital prognoses of the four victims are engaged.

This road is known in the town for being a place with many speed-related accidents. “We recorded an average of 79km/h in the town, while the speed is limited to 30km/h”says Thierry Auroy Peytou, the mayor of Lamonzie-Saint-Martin. With Bleu Périgord this morning, the man who is also the father of a 20-year-old girl, expresses all his sadness and support for the families of these young people hospitalized.
