The Colorado Avalanche traded goalie Justus Annunen and a sixth-round draft pick to the Nashville Predators on Saturday in exchange for another goalie, Scott Wedgewood.

Struggling with the poor performances of its starting goaltender, Alexandar Georgiev, the Avalanche, which does not have much play in terms of salary, is therefore trying to improve its situation in front of the net by obtaining the veteran Wedgewood, who was joined by the Predators last summer, signing a two-year contract worth $1.5 million per year.

In five meetings with the “Preds” this season, the 32-year-old goalkeeper has maintained a record of one victory, two defeats in one setback in overtime.

Annunen, for his part, compiled a record of six wins and four losses this season as a backup to Georgiev. The 24-year-old Finn has played 29 games in the NHL since the 2021-2022 season, all with the Avalanche.
