Data from the International Trade Center confirmed that Morocco maintained its position as Africa’s top car exporter in 2023, with total exports reaching $6.39 billion. This result is the result of successful industrial policies adopted by Morocco, strengthening the automotive sector as one of the key drivers of the national economy.
South Africa ranked second with exports worth $5.4 billion, far surpassing other African countries. Djibouti ranks third with $348.9 million, followed by Uganda ($22.3 million) and Tanzania ($19.4 million).
At the North Africa level, Tunisia recorded exports of $13.6 million, while Egypt reached $6 million, reflecting a notable difference in the performance of countries in the region.
It should be noted that these statistics only concern vehicles carrying fewer than 10 people, thus highlighting the importance of passenger cars in the export structure of these countries.
This performance of Morocco strengthens its position as a regional industrial platform, benefiting from foreign investments and international partnerships which have made it a key center of the automotive industry on the African continent.
