BGFIBank Senegal received, on Friday, November 29, the AML 30000 certificate (Anti-Money Laundering, index 30000), the first certifiable standard in the fight against money laundering, terrorist financing and weapons proliferation.
This recognition, attributed to the Senegalese subsidiary of the BGFIBank group, the leading financial group in the CEMAC zone, positions the institution as a key player in the promotion of good governance and transparency practices in the banking sector.
On the sidelines of the ceremony organized in the Senegalese capital, Dakar, Djibril Ngom, chairman of the board of directors of BGFIBank Senegal, accompanied by Khady Boye Hanne, managing director of the subsidiary, received the certificate from the hands of Christian Mocanu, director general of COFICERT. The event was also marked by the announcement of the obtaining of the same certification by BGFIBank Benin, represented by the chairman of its board of directors, Oswald Loueke.
“The AML 30000 certification that we receive today reflects not only our ideal, the perpetual search for excellence, in the implementation of our daily activities, but also our effective consideration of the significant risks that money laundering capital and the financing of terrorism weigh on the financial security of our States and the financial sector as a whole,” declared Mr. Djibril Ngom, CEO of BGFIBank Senegal.
BGFI Holding Corporation, parent company of the BGFIBank group, received AML 30000 and MSI 20000 certifications in June 2023, demonstrating its compliance with the requirements of its stakeholders. BGFIBank Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and BGFIBank Côte d’Ivoire were also certified in 2020 and 2022 respectively.
The AML 30000 certificate, issued by COFICERT, an expert organization in financial and extra-financial certifications, has been since 2017 a recognized international standard for assessing the quality of the systems of companies in the financial sector in the fight against money laundering and financing. of terrorism.
In her speech, Ms. Khady Boye Hanne also announced a strengthening of the bank’s management team with the appointment of Mr. Ousmane Fall, until then commercial director, as deputy general manager of BGFIBank Senegal.
