Speaking during the inaugural course of the Abdelmalek Essaâdi University (UAE), under the theme “Morocco, Spain and Latin America: cultural management, communication and diplomacy”, the Spanish diplomat Enrique Ojeda Vila highlighted the various aspects of relations distinguished and fruitful relations uniting the two friendly countries, noting that the two Kingdoms share a deep conviction of moving forward together to further deepen their relations at all levels.

In this wake, Mr. Ojeda Vila spoke of the deep historical and cultural ties between Morocco and Spain, as well as their strategic cooperation in the fields of economy, education, security and sport, affirming “the conviction of the two Kingdoms as to the need to strengthen opportunities for sustainable cooperation, to address common challenges and to promote economic, political, cultural and social assets.

The diplomat also noted the importance of highlighting the common history between the two countries and the ancestral links that Morocco and Spain have been able to invest in the service of the two peoples and the two countries.

Spain, he recalled, is Morocco’s leading commercial partner in terms of trade and that it aims to become the main foreign investor in the Kingdom, particularly in promising sectors, such as renewable energies. and rail transport.

In addition, the Spanish diplomat emphasized the shared human ties, with around a million Moroccans established in Spain and a large Spanish community in Morocco, highlighting the spirit of solidarity of the countries during the recent floods in Valencia.

He noted that scientific research, as well as cultural and academic exchanges between Moroccan and Spanish universities can contribute to further strengthening relations between the two countries.

In a statement to MAP, the President of the UAE, Bouchta El Moumni, said that cooperation between higher education and scientific research establishments embodies the excellent partnership relations between the two countries, specifying that this meeting is part of the University’s efforts to broaden the horizons of cooperation with its Spanish counterparts, through joint programs of student exchange, scientific research and sharing of academic experiences, with a view to improve the level education and to strengthen cultural understanding between the two peoples.

The university manager reviewed a number of programs allowing teacher-researchers to continue their studies in Spain, thus contributing to enrich their academic experiences, adding that these programs constitute an important mechanism for the exchange of knowledge between Morocco and Spain, strengthening the quality of scientific research and contributing to the promotion of higher education in both countries.

For his part, Zakaria Charia, coordinator of the Spanish studies department at the Faculty of Letters and Human Sciences (FLSH), indicated that this type of conferences and academic meetings make it possible to raise students’ awareness of the issues of international and regional diplomatic relations, stressing that the meeting made it possible to highlight the mechanisms of Moroccan-Spanish relations.
