Press release Sûreté du Québec
Police officers from the National Organized Crime Repression Squad (ENRCO) carried out an operation on November 26 in Pierreville and Sorel-Tracy in connection with the production of synthetic drugs.
A total of 3 searches were carried out. A residence on Fiset Boulevard in Sorel-Tracy and a vehicle were searched.
At the same time, a warehouse located on Industrielle Street in Pierreville was searched.
The police seized:
2,500 kg of products used for the production of MDMA and/or methamphetamine
58,750 MDMA tablets
5 pieces of MDMA and/or methamphetamine production equipment
Et 4 250 $.
The investigation tends to demonstrate that these criminal drug manufacturing activities are linked to the Hells Angels. The operation mobilized around forty police officers. Given the nature of the products found in this warehouse, a deployment of specialized resources was necessary to ensure the safety and health of the public and the police.
The Sûreté du Québec has a team specialized in dismantling clandestine synthetic drug laboratories. This team is made up of police officers who are explosives technicians, crime scene technicians and investigators, all trained in securing and dismantling clandestine laboratories. The team, in place since 2008, regularly works in collaboration with several organizations such as Health Canada, fire services (HAZMAT) and Urgence santé.
These police officers have received specialized training recognized by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), the Sureté du Québec or the Canadian Police College. They are called upon to intervene in places where clandestine installations of illegal drugs, such as methamphetamine, MDMA and fentanyl, are located. The police secure the scene and collect the evidence necessary to lay criminal charges. Clandestine drug production poses serious dangers to front-line teams and residents of affected communities. In addition, production presents risks of contamination for the environment.
The National Organized Crime Suppression Squad has the mandate to specifically attack the leaders of organized crime. ENRCO Montreal is made up of police officers from the Sûreté du Québec, the RCMP, the City of Montreal Police Service and the Laval Police Service.
