Cheikh Thiam, known for his virulent criticism of those in power, was summoned to the Special Cybercrime Division (DSC). This summons follows his explosive declarations according to which the regime is preparing to “poison opponents”. Comments considered serious and unfounded, which sparked heated controversy in the public space.

Recently, former MP Moustapha Diakhate and journalist Adama Gaye were also placed in police custody after making comments deemed defamatory or undermining public order. These cases contribute to a tense climate between the government and its detractors.
