At the head of the FNSEA, Arnaud Rousseau, deplored “the lamentable methods” of the Rural Coordination, a competing union which distinguished itself by the brilliant coups during the farmers' mobilizations.
The president of the FNSEA Arnaud Rousseau denounced on Friday the “lamentable methods” and the “unacceptable threats” of representatives of the agricultural union competing with the Rural Coordination, which disrupted his trip to Agen (Lot-et-Garonne), in a statement to AFP.
“I remind you that the FNSEA and the Young Farmers are in the majority in 95% of the chambers (of agriculture) and that for my part, I will never accept that the president of Rural Coordination cannot go to a department, that she is physically threatened (…) These are just methods that I find absolutely lamentable,” declared Arnaud Rousseau, who had to be escorted by police to leave the national congress of vegetable producers, whose entrance was blocked by local CR activists.
This confrontation between the two unions comes a few weeks before the vote aimed at electing the departmental chambers of agriculture. The Rural Coordination, which currently chairs three, hopes to break the hegemony of the FNSEA-JA alliance and capture a few additional rooms.
