The match between the Oilers and the Canadiens will be presented at 7:30 p.m. this evening on RDS and RDS.ca.
SUMMARY
Montreal Canadiens defenseman David Savard will return to action this evening when the Edmonton Oilers visit the Bell Centre.
The veteran was forced to miss his team’s last match due to an upper body injury.
Goalkeeper Samuel Montembeault will also be the Habs’ starting goalkeeper for this meeting. He will be opposed to Calvin Picard.
Martin St-Louis’ troops will try to sign a second consecutive victory after dominating the Columbus Blue Jackets 5-1 on Saturday evening.
After an encouraging defensive performance against the Jackets, the challenge will be quite different against McDavid and company.
McDavid, who has 21 points in 15 games since the start of the season, reached the 1,000-point plateau last week. Even though a lot of attention is focused on the Oilers captain, St. Louis is well aware that a victory requires a complete game, no matter who is on the ice.
After 18 games, Montreal has only signed six victories and clearly, the head coach does not want to change his approach, despite the results which are long overdue.
Furthermore, forward Patrik Laine practiced individually with the team’s director of player development, Adam Nicholas, before the optional training session, then continued his training with Montembeault and Cayden Primeau.
The Canadian will pay tribute to our colleague Pierre Houde before the game to mark his receipt of the Foster Hewitt Award, as part of this year’s Hockey Hall of Fame celebrations.
