The electoral campaign for the Senegalese legislative elections on November 17, 2024 continues to be marked by tensions. This Sunday morning, Madiambal Diagne, journalist and candidate for elections on the coalition list Peace and Safetyled by former Prime Minister Amadou Ba, denounced on its social networks the use of supposedly misleading images in a 24 report.

In a short statement accompanied by a video from the French channel, Madiambal Diagne affirmed that the report in question, devoted to the electoral campaign, illustrated its subject with sequences dating from the presidential election last March: “When France 24 illustrates its reports from the legislative elections with edited images, shot during the presidential election 8 months ago!” he declared.

However, this accusation was quickly contradicted by Elimane Ndao, France 24 correspondent in Dakar, who reacted strongly by denouncing Diagne’s comments. On social networks: “No shame at your age for spreading untruths like this. Ashamed !” writes Ndao.

In his response, Elimane Ndao did not explicitly confirm or deny whether the images used actually came from the presidential election of March 2024 or the current legislative campaign. This lack of precision maintains the vagueness around the accusations made by Madiambal Diagne, leaving the controversy open.

Here is the video in question:
