To put an end to spam once and for all, Google is preparing to revolutionize Gmail. With the “Shielded Email” function, we will share aliases of our email, thus protecting it.
A real current scourge, spam abounds in our mailboxes. Even if some are filtered and redirected to the appropriate folder, the fact remains that we receive a lot of them quickly. Almost all sites ask for an email address, to register, to receive newsletters and more. We find ourselves inundated with communications, not to mention spam and campaigns carried out after data leaks.
With this new feature, the Mountain View firm could put an end to spam. More precisely, as AndroidAuthority indicates, it will generate email addresses for single or limited use. They will act as aliases that will forward messages to your main account. This will make it easier to delete an alias and therefore stop spam coming from it.
Note that this functionality was spotted in the code of version 24.45.33 of Google Play Services. It has not yet been able to be tested by users. If this is to be deployed, the associated details still remain to be determined. Will we be limited in aliases? What will be the authorized limits? Only time will tell, but it is certain that this will strengthen security around our main email address.
