A huge fire broke out this morning, Saturday, November 16, at the “Al-Joutia” market, known as “Old Friday,” in the city of Nador, leading to the destruction of a large number of businesses and serious material losses. , at a time when the causes of the accident are still not precisely known.
The fire broke out around 7 a.m. and caused 25 commercial stores to burn completely, while dozens of other stores were damaged to varying degrees, bringing the total number of people affected to around 50 stores, including the goods and merchandise they contained.
Some initial reports suggested the possibility of an electrical short circuit, but official investigations have not yet confirmed this.
Civil protection agents went to the site, reinforced by heavy equipment and great logistical capacities, where they were able to control the fire and prevent it from spreading to the rest of the market.
Local officials also visited the site, including the mayor of Nador and the city pasha, as well as the district agent who personally supervised the damage assessment and monitoring of procedures on the ground.
In a related context, the Nador worker called on the traders concerned to form a committee to represent them, with the aim of developing a compensation and support plan in coordination with the competent authorities.
He stressed the importance of providing urgent solutions to rebuild the market and ensure the resumption of commercial activity as quickly as possible.
It is expected that the authorities will soon reveal the results of investigations to know the real reasons for this disaster, which left a great shock among the traders and residents of the city.
