Es-Semara – The 4th edition of the “Jawaher of the Sahara” Women’s Forum kicked off, an event which aims to highlight the skills of women from the southern provinces in all areas, was given on Friday evening in Es-Semara.
Placed under the high patronage of HM King Mohammed VI, this forum, organized by the “Ennour” Association for the promotion of women and children, with the Union of the Comoros as guest country of honor, constitutes a event bringing together female skills from all backgrounds for mutual enrichment through exchange and sharing.
This event, which comes in the wake of the celebration of the Glorious Green March and Independence Day, aims to highlight the contributions of women to sustainable development at the provincial and regional level.
On this occasion, a tribute was paid to women who have distinguished themselves through their actions and initiatives at the national, regional and provincial levels in the scientific, academic, associative, human rights and media fields.
These are the Director of the African Academy of Territorial Communities of United Cities and Local Governments of Africa (UCLG-Africa), Najat Zarrouk, and the head of the National Scientific and Technical Police Laboratory (LNPST), reporting to the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN), Hakima Yahya, as well as the teacher-researcher at the Sidi Mohamed Ben Abdellah University of Fez, Asmae Diani.
Likewise, tributes were paid to female talents from the southern provinces, in this case the president of the International Observatory on Peace, Democracy and Human Rights, Aïcha Douihi, the media figure of the radio station of Laâyoune, Leila Abou Bakr Maelainine, and the vice-president of the commune of Laâyoune, Mkamaltou Kamal.
Furthermore, the public was invited to follow a video sequence on the various infrastructures abounding in the province of Es-Semara and on the highlights of the previous edition.
In addition, the initiators of this three-day forum organized an artistic evening hosted by a host of artists and local folk troupes, who gratified festival-goers with hits drawn from the rich and varied Hassani musical repertoire.
The program of this forum, which brings together experts, university researchers, associative actors and representatives of civil society, includes artistic exhibitions, workshops on the economic empowerment of women, and seminars on the promotion of conditions of women and their integration into socio-economic life.
On the menu of this event, the opening ceremony of which took place in the presence of the governor of the province of Es-Semara, Brahim Boutoumilate, also included visits to historical monuments and sites of rock engravings at provincial level, as well as activities at the local prison and other social activities, in addition to a poetry tent.
