Following the resounding announcement of the resignation of municipal councilor and group leader Benoit Bouchat (Les Engagés) angry with his party and, particularly, with his ex-running mate Olivier de Wasseige, the latter wanted to react.

I read the harsh criticism of Benoît Bouchat on social networks and his withdrawal from his political commitment. His disappointment at not being retained as alderman visibly bathes him in bitterness. Anger is never a good advisor. I will just politely take note of this and for my part will avoid commenting further on his frustration. The choice of aldermen was made democratically in section, unanimously, and not under the orders of any pseudo dictator. Benoît has had a lot in his hands in recent years: group leader, first deputy in the region and leading duo in the municipality, without this materializing in the responsibilities to which he aspired. Perhaps he should question himself rather than lash out at others. My desire is to act positively in a group dynamic with the Liège Engagés and this is my only interest“, summarized the Walloon MP.

As a reminder, Benoit Bouchat, the linchpin of the rise of the Engagés, did not obtain the aldermanship of finance (or any other), he who has solid professional experience in the financial world and had apparently- he was kept away from the real negotiations. In a Facebook post, he accused Olivier de Wasseige of taking power and exercising it in a despotic manner.
