Dakhla – A delegation of French business leaders and economic decision-makers, led by the French Ambassador to Rabat, Mr. Christophe Lecourtier, visited major structuring projects in the Dakhla-Oued Eddahab region on Wednesday.
This trip, initiated by the French Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Morocco (CFCIM) as part of the Morocco-France Economic Days in the Laâyoune-Sakia El-Hamra and Dakhla-Oued Eddahab regions, allowed the delegation to witness first-hand the assets and potential that the southern provinces of the Kingdom abound for attracting investments, concluding partnerships and strengthening trade.
In a statement to MAP, the president of the CFCIM, Claudia Gaudiau-Francisco, indicated that the objective of this visit is to allow French business leaders to explore investment opportunities in the Dakhla region. Oued Eddahab.
This involves finding out about projects carried out or to be implemented within the framework of the Regional Development Program (PDR), she clarified, highlighting the desire of French companies to be part of this approach. of “co-construction” and to contribute to the realization of major projects in the southern provinces, as part of the multifaceted cooperation between France and Morocco.
“We visited several structuring projects which are taking shape, including the Dakhla seawater desalination station,” noted Ms. Gaudiau-Francisco, noting that it is important for French companies to plan for the realization of future projects. projects and contribute to economic dynamics at the regional level.
For his part, Edren Klein, French investor and director of the subsidiary ID Sud Énergies, indicated that the Kingdom is able to implement large-scale projects, as evidenced by the economic growth experienced by the southern provinces, today with strong development potential.
For his part, the general director of Bureau Veritas North Africa, Bruno Pitou, said he was “impressed” by the enormous development potential enjoyed by the region, particularly in terms of green energy, affirming that many French operators are be interested in investment opportunities in this part of the Kingdom’s territory.
The French ambassador and the accompanying delegation made field visits to several major projects in the Dakhla-Oued Eddahab region, including the Seawater Desalination Station, entirely powered by wind energy. , and the Dakhla Atlantique port, intended to establish the region as a leading regional hub linking Morocco to its African depth.
Mr. Lecourtier had meetings with the wali of the Dakhla-Oued Eddahab region, governor of the province of Oued Eddahab, Ali Khalil, the president of the Regional Council, El Khattat Yanja, and the president of the Dakhla municipal council, Erragheb Hormatallah.
With its 3,000 members and more than 20,000 members, the French Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Morocco opened delegations in Laâyoune in May 2017, in Dakhla in March 2019 and, more recently, in Guelmim in February last.
