We know, it would take an achievement for the Red Devils to look upwards in this Nations League. First beat Italy, then hope that this same Squadra is beaten by .

Last October’s performances don’t leave one very optimistic, but after all, a victory this Thursday and the machine can be restarted. But in any case, we will need a 6/6, and hope that Italy then loses against France, so as not to compete in the play-offs to remain in the Nations League A.

These play-offs would be played next March, in a round-trip format, and would therefore pit Belgium against a runner-up in League B. This leaves some particularly tricky options for our Devils, because high-level teams play in “European D2” and want to find the elite.

Potential opponents of the Red Devils

In Group 1 of the Nations League B, everything is still open: the 4 teams in the pool can finish second – Czechia, Georgia, Albania and Ukraine. None would be a sinecure, none would be a huge piece, even if we saw at Euro 2024 that we had to be wary of the Ukrainians…

In group 3, there are three teams with 7 points (Kazakhstan is eliminated): Norway, Austria and Slovenia. The latter two caused a sensation at Euro 2024, and Austria even caused big problems for the Devils in qualifying; Haaland’s Norway wouldn’t be a gift either.

Finally, in group 4, it will be either Turkey (10 points) or Wales which will compete in the play-offs. Wales are not doing well for us, and Turkey also showed good things in Germany last summer. In short: we will have to remain solid to stay in League A…
