A budget of 3.2 billion dirhams has been mobilized for the year 2023 to finance road projects. This investment envelope was entrusted to the Fund for road financing with the aim of creating more than 750 km of roads and 6 technical installations, announced the Minister of Equipment and Water, Nizar Baraka. In his response last week to an oral question in the House of Advisors, the senior government official indicated that several advances had been recorded in terms of carrying out road projects, noting that at the level of the expressway linking Tiznit and Dakhla for example, work to complete the sections is at a very advanced stage.

Furthermore, the remaining area between Tiznit and Tan-Tan, with a total length of 80 km, is being developed and includes 3 technical installations, which required the mobilization of an amount of 673.35 million dirhams.

Furthermore, the year 2023 was marked by the conclusion of the agreement relating to the construction of a bridge over the valley of Sakia El Hamra at the satellite road leading to the town of Laayoune. This bridge, which will extend over a length of 1.7 km, will include two road lanes in each direction and will be built with a total budget of 1.3 billion dirhams over a period of 40 months.

Regarding the volume of investments mobilized by the National Highway Company in Morocco in 2023, Mr. Baraka indicated that the latter amounted to 901 million dirhams. This amount was mobilized to increase the capacity of the Rabat-Berrechid motorway axisthrough the launch of construction works on the Tit Mellil-Berrechid highway worth 123 million dirhams and the launch of reconstruction and triangulation works of the entrance to the Tit Mellil-Berrechid highway via the road regional RR 315. It also involves continuing the triangulation work on the last two sections of the Casablanca satellite highway from the Tit Mellil highway to the Lissasfa crossroads, then from the Berrechid highway to the Bouskoura toll station, thanks to the mobilization of an amount of 516 million dirhams.

According to the minister, these various projects will improve economic attractiveness by developing the road network and could help attract investments and capital and optimize road connectivity between provinces by improving road safety indicators. , while reducing territorial and social disparities.

These various works should also increase the current density of the Moroccan road network, classified among the best developed on the continent. According to data from the Ministry of Equipment, based on the report of a study carried out in 2020, approximately 62.7% of the national road network is in good condition, with an improvement rate of 9.2% compared to to the year 2012.
