Senegalese justice ordered, on Sunday, the postponement of the burial of the former Minister of Finance and Budget, Mamadou Moustapha Ba, who died on November 4, at the age of 59, in France, an autopsy report commissioned by the prosecutor’s office having concluded that “the death is not natural”, reported the Senegalese Press Agency (APS / Official).
“The results of the autopsy ordered to determine the causes of the death of Minister Mamadou Moustapha Ba revealed several elements which are likely to attest that the death was not natural,” wrote the public prosecutor at the court of high authority of Dakar, in a press release relayed by the APS.
Therefore, the investigations “require additional investigative actions”, he added, announcing that the lifting of the body and the burial of the former minister, initially planned for Sunday November 10, are postponed.
Last Saturday, the prosecutor announced, in a previous press release, the opening of an investigation aimed at identifying the causes of the death of Mamadou Moustapha Ba.
“The information received on the circumstances of the death includes elements which justify that diligence be carried out with a view to determining the causes of death. In accordance with the provisions of article 66 of the code of criminal procedure, an investigation to investigate the causes of death was opened and, to this end, an autopsy was ordered,” he declared.
Mamadou Moustapha Ba led the Senegalese Ministry of Finance and Budget from September 2022 to April 2024, after having served as director general of the budget for several years.
