watson join you this week to meet Maïté Sulliger, the 30-year-old Lausanne resident at the head of Fripsquare, an essential place for lovers of responsible fashion and unique pieces.
Maïté embodies an inspiring journey of entrepreneurship, passion and family. She launched her project in 2020 with an online store from her apartment, selling vintage clothes that she found in Swiss flea markets. Quickly, his keen eye for beautiful pieces and his commitment to sustainable fashion attracted a loyal clientele, so much so that each new collection was out of stock within a few hours.
Faced with this enthusiasm, Maïté is opening a first showroom in the heart of Lausanne in 2021, in an atypical 12 m² space set up in a former service station. This mini-boutique quickly became a popular address, attracting fashion enthusiasts looking for unique and responsible pieces.
In 2023, Fripsquare takes a new turn with the opening of a large space in the Sous-Gare district, incorporating a coffee shop run by Willy Mam, Maïté’s companion.
Meeting place
More than just a second-hand store, Fripsquare Café & Vintage Store is a meeting place where people come to share a coffee while discovering hand-picked vintage clothing. Thanks to a network of European partners, Maïté enriches its store with new unique pieces every week, thus combining current trends and slow fashion.
Maïté followed this journey while becoming a mother of two girls. She learned to manage Fripsquare while balancing professional and family life, with the support of her partner. Through Fripsquare, Maïté Sulliger is realizing much more than a fashion dream: she is building a committed brand, faithful to its values of sustainability and respect.
