Councilor Serge Gaudreault would even like to have citizens sign the complaint.
“Business people that I will not name are ready to sign,” he told TVA Nouvelles.
Jean-Marc Crevier, who is cited in one of the files before the DGEQ, had requested the intervention of Minister Andrée Laforest last week. He contacted the office of the Ministry of Municipal Affairs in Quebec on Monday morning. It was suggested that he file a complaint with the Quebec Municipal Commission.
10 of the 15 councilors had signed a first request 3 weeks ago, asking that the question of Mayor Julie Dufour’s legal costs be debated around the council table. The executive committee, whose members are appointed by Mayor Dufour, maintains that it has full jurisdiction to decide for itself.
Today, 7 advisors sent a new request to members of the executive.
“In the name of the appearance of a conflict of interest,” explains ERD designated advisor Marc Bouchard. “A legal opinion is one thing, but it’s always a judge who decides in the end.”
“If they remain in their positions while citizens demand answers, they are the worst,” said Councilor Michel Tremblay.
Two of the signatories of the letter of October 23 could not be contacted, the third is still under consideration, according to Marc Bouchard.
