A fatal accident involving two trucks in Vernier

A fatal accident involving two trucks occurred on Monday around 3 p.m. on Chemin des Sellières, in Lignon, in the south of the commune of Vernier. The trailer of the first vehicle struck the second, which was stationary. “During this impact, the driver of the second truck which was on the road was struck,” the cantonal police said in a press release published shortly before 10 p.m. He died on the spot.

No other information is given. The site 20 minutes brings details. The trailer consisted of “a bulky mechanical excavator”, according to a witness, and the truck stopped was in reality a garbage truck. It was his driver who was mowed down. He was 61 years old, according to the news site. This is the eleventh death on Geneva roads in 2024.
