The mother was not in the house. She was finally found and arrested around the town of Visé, in Basse-Meuse, thanks, among other things, to her telephone data. She was deprived of her liberty and interviewed by the investigating judge. She declared “remember nothing“, indicated the spokesperson. She indicated “having woken up around 6 a.m., seeing her child dead and leaving the house with dark thoughts“, she adds.

The autopsy of the 3 and a half year old boy, Ethan, killed in Berloz in the family home, was carried out on Monday.

As a reminder, it was the child’s father who called the emergency services and the police around 9 a.m. The mother was deprived of her liberty around midday, around Visé. The police first found her vehicle, before finding her nearby. The father was later also deprived of his liberty.

The autopsy revealed that the young boy was suffocated. “He has two wounds on his cheek and chin, made with a sharp object, but these are not lethal injuries.“, indicated Catherine Collignon, spokesperson for the Liège public prosecutor’s office. The mother, a teacher, also has wounds and lesions on her body.

Questioned by the investigating judge, she declared that she woke up around 6 a.m. and saw her child dead on her bed. She then left the home, “dark thoughts in the head“. She also indicated “remember nothing“.

The mother, who has no criminal record, was placed under arrest on Monday for murder. The father was released. “At this stage of the investigation, no evidence of his guilt has been proven.“added the spokesperson.
