Formation of a federal government: Bart De Wever has an appointment with the King this Tuesday, what are the possible solutions?
The federal trainer, Bart De Wever, has an appointment with the King this Tuesday. Last Monday, the president of the N-VA submitted his resignation to the sovereign, but was granted an additional week to conduct new consultations. On the eve of this meeting, where are we?
On the eve of the new meeting between Bart De Wever, the federal trainer, and King Philippe, the question “what will be the coalition favored by the president of the N-VA?” still remains unanswered.
Two solutions are still possible.
- Either Bart De Wever keeps the same parties, those of the Arizona coalition, with the N-VA, the CD&V, the MR, the Engagés and Vooruit, the Flemish socialists, whose president, Conner Rousseau, had left the negotiations.
- Either Bart De Wever launches into another coalition, “the Lagoon”, with the N-VA, the CD&V, the MR, the Engagés and the Flemish liberals of the Open VLD. These parties would have a majority, but a very short one, only one seat. (76 seats out of 150).
For the moment, the trainer is still consulting, his choice has not been made, but time is starting to run out as the meeting with the King approaches, this Tuesday.
