“It was indeed a big tragedy that took place in this street,” explains André Jamers, head of the Hesbaye police zone. The police officer confirms that the investigation is heading towards infanticide.
The drama would have started after an argument between the child’s parents. The latter, a couple aged around forty, moved there a few years ago. After the argument, the mother went to sleep in the bedroom upstairs while the father went to sleep on the sofa on the ground floor of the house. The argument would not have been marred by violence. “When he woke up, he noticed that the car, which was in front of the house, had disappeared. The father thought that the child had left with his mother because he did not hear any noise.”
But when he went upstairs, he was confronted with horror. He noticed the child’s lifeless body. “He found his child with his throat slit”continues the commander.
The child’s mother had disappeared. The police were looking for her until this Sunday. The woman was finally intercepted by the police in another area.
The Hesbaye police established a security perimeter around the house where the tragedy took place. The Liège public prosecutor’s office was informed of the facts. The case was put under investigation.
A forensic doctor has been appointed. “The intervention of a third party is beyond doubt.”continues Ms. Collignon. “In the current state of the investigation, the two parents have been arrested, but not yet interviewed.” The prosecution will communicate on the case tomorrow Monday.
On the side of Béatrice Moureau, the mayor of Berloz, there is consternation. “It’s horrible, horribleshe explains. It’s unimaginable to go to such extremes on a child. It’s so sad, laments the mayor. I was warned by the police area. According to neighbors, this family was very discreet. The parents just said hello and goodbye, but nothing more. They were not known. “
At the time of writing, it is unknown whether the child was educated in the town. “I don’t know the family personally. I see where their house is, but nothing more. I may have met them before, but I’ve never heard anything about them. An autopsy will be carried out to determine the circumstances and time of death. A neighborhood survey will be carried out. If the child was educated in our municipality, a support unit will be set up for students and teachers. It’s very vague at the moment. I’m waiting for details. All I can say is that we are not used to such horrible tragedies in our small town.”
