Departing this weekend from (Tarn-et-Garonne) bound for , a first emergency aid convoy took stock of the tragedy experienced by those affected by the deadly floods which struck the south-east of the ‘Spain. Occitalien is already preparing a second convoy. The association’s premises will be exceptionally open this Monday, November 11 afternoon, in the Carrefour Albasud shopping arcade, to receive your donations.

“Today we are all becoming Spaniards, we need to show this solidarity towards our neighbors and friends”, launched Pascal Serrier this Friday, November 8, when loading the first tons of emergency aid collected throughout the Tarn- et-Garonne for those affected by the deadly floods which hit the Valence region on the night of October 29 to 30.

The reality of this tragedy was hit home by the president of Occitalien and all those who accompanied him this weekend, by transporting a first convoy of emergency equipment by truck. A pile-up of cars along the roads and highways, entire neighborhoods still disfigured by mud and the air stale by the smell of garbage that has still not been removed, almost two weeks after the disaster… and above all a very heavy human toll far from being definitive with 223 deaths officially recorded and nearly 90 missing.

“We have distributed 50,000 masks in particular in the three municipalities in the south-west suburbs of Valence hardest hit by the disaster. We are going to take the road to Montauban in the night, but we are already thinking of organizing a second convoy, so the needs are immense”, confided this Sunday evening Pascal Serrier.

A sign that time is running out, even if this Monday, November 11 is a public holiday, the association has decided to exceptionally open its premises, still located in the Carrefour d’Albasud shopping mall (Editor’s note: remember that Occitalien is looking for new premises, the brand managing the shopping mall wishing to recover this space), from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. You can therefore bring your donations there, which will be sent to Valencia in the second convoy.
