the essential
From railway workers to civil servants to farmers, several mobilizations and strike movements are announced by the end of the year. We take stock of the dates and demands of these professions.
Rallies, parades, strikes… since the end of the major mobilizations against pension reform, France has not seen any. Without the same scale, several protests are on the horizon in the coming weeks.
Air sector: November 14
The National Union of Line Pilots (SNPL) has filed a strike notice for Thursday, November 14. A majority in the profession, he calls on pilots to protest against the increase in the solidarity tax on plane tickets (TSBA). Do you have to fly that day? Check that the flight is well maintained.
#StopTaxes With the Government dogmatically refusing to take into account the devastating effects of the unconsidered increase in the TSBA, the SNPL calls on all pilots to mobilize, with the employees of the#air on November 14, 2024 https://t.co/lHs6H8jCAb

Farmers: November 15
In mid-October, the FNSEA and the Young Farmers called on the agricultural world for “a resumption of actions from November 15” throughout France. For its part, the Lot-et-Garonne Rural Coordination union (CR47) announced a new mobilization from November 19 and to block rail freight. The agricultural world knows how to mobilize strongly as it proved at the start of the year.

SNCF: November 21
All SNCF unions are calling on railway workers to stop work for 24 hours on Thursday, November 21. This action aims to protest against the dismantling of Fret SNCF, “the privatization of TER, Transilien and intercity activities” and “the breakup of SNCF Réseau”.

Civil service: early December?
The argument is burning between the Minister of the Civil Service Guillaume Kasbarian and the unions over the plan to go from one to three days of waiting time for civil servants. The CGT and FO raised the possibility of mobilization “at the beginning of December”. “Three days of waiting = 3 days of strike”, hopes Christian Grolier, general secretary of the UIAFP-FO. The inter-union meets Tuesday at 4 p.m. to define the modalities.

SNCF: December 11
After the mobilization of December 21, all SNCF unions promise an indefinite strike from Wednesday December 11 at 7 p.m. to demand a moratorium against the dismantling of Fret SNCF and the opening of regional lines to competition. The movement will be renewable for 24 hours each day. The inter-union is showing its muscles in the face of the lack of “inflection” from the management of the SNCF.

Social plans: December 12
December 12 will be a “day of convergence of all struggles for employment in France”, announced the general secretary of the CGT Sophie Binet, who is asking the government for a moratorium on all layoff plans. Social plans are back in France: Michelin will close its factories in Cholet and Vannes and cut 1,254 jobs, Auchan will implement a social plan which will affect 2,389 people. And it's probably not over…
