A preliminary investigation for “sexual harassment” has been opened against singer Slimane, the Saint-Etienne prosecutor announced to AFP this Thursday. A complaint was filed at the end of October with the Saint-Étienne public prosecutor’s office (Loire) by a technician against the last representative of France at Eurovision. The facts denounced date from December 2023, when Slimane performed in concert at the city’s Zénith.
The parquet was waiting to receive the material elements before opening a preliminary investigation. This was finally opened for “sexual harassment aggravated by the use of a digital or electronic medium”said prosecutor David Charmatz.
A complaint filed by a technician
According to a source close to the matter, contacted by franceinfo, this complaint was filed by one of the former technicians of the “Cupid” tour. He denounces facts which allegedly took place on December 17, 2023, after the concert, then on the night of December 17 to 18. The technician accuses the singer in particular of having pinned him against a wall then of having asked him for sexual intercourse. After refusing, the technician said he received several dozen messages of a sexual nature during the night from Slimane. The technician then notified the company that employed him, which decided to withdraw its technicians from the singer’s tour.
Singer Slimane, aged 35, won the fifth edition of the show The Voice in 2016. During his duet with singer Vitaa, the artist topped the album sales ranking in France in 2020 with “Versus”. Last May, he represented France during the Eurovision song contest, finishing in fourth place. On November 1, he won the trophy for French-speaking male artist at the NRJ Music Awards. This price “has a special taste”recognized Slimane after winning his prize, when it was his first public appearance since the revelation of the complaint against him.
