The President of the Czech Republic concluded his two-day state visit to Switzerland with discussions on security and relations between the two countries. Petr Pavel welcomed common interests in ‘many areas’.

Mr. Pavel was received by the Federal Council led by the President of the Confederation Viola Amherd on the Federal Square, said the Federal Department of Defense (DDPS) on Wednesday in a press release. Mr. Pavel was received with military honors.

Discussions then took place with Federal Councilors Guy Parmelin (Federal Department of the Economy, Education and Research), Ignazio Cassis (Federal Department of Foreign Affairs), Albert Rösti (Federal Department of the Environment, Transport, Energy and Communication) and Beat Jans (Federal Department of Justice and Police).

The perspectives of the European continent were also at the heart of the discussions.
