Gabriel Bortoleto will drive a Formula 1 car for Sauber next season. The Hinwil team has announced the signing of the 20-year-old Brazilian, who will team up with German Nico Hülkenberg.

After formalizing the departure of Valtteri Bottas and Zhou Guanyu in the morning, Sauber confirmed news that had been in the air for some time. Gabriel Bortoleto will be one of the two new faces of the future Audi team.

The 20-year-old Brazilian, current leader of the Formula 2 championship, will pair up with the experienced Hülkenberg, whose commitment for several seasons was announced at the end of April. Both drivers will race in Sauber colors before the official transition to the Audi factory team in 2026.

For Bottas and Zhou, this season marks the end of a three-year collaboration with the Zurich team. The Finn’s 5th place during the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix in 2022 remains the best result obtained by this duo. This season, both drivers have yet to score a single point.
