It all started in the Thai province of Nakhon Phanom, where a woman accidentally got rid of her diamond ring. She lost it while washing her hands. Against all odds, she managed to find it in a municipal dump, according to The Tiger.

Determined, the homeowner went to the local dump and mobilized employees as well as volunteers to help him excavate the 28-hectare site. The search lasted 30 hours and was ultimately successful.

A TikTok user, Apitchaya Ning, shared two videos – gone viral – of the operation. We first see the tireless work of the volunteers then the joy of the owner who finally holds her diamond again.

Perseverance praised

The first sequence attracted more than three million views. It comes with warnings to be careful when washing hands. Internet users were impressed by the endurance of the volunteers, who spent more than 30 hours digging through trash. In the comments, the owner revealed that she had spent 20,000 baht (around 540 euros) to pay those who came to her aid, a sum much lower than the estimated value of the jewel, estimated at around 400,000 bahts (10,900 euros).

“Amazing! How did they manage to find him after 30 hours?

An admiring Internet user

“This diamond is magnificent, it was worth every minute of effort», writes another. Many expressed respect for the determination of the excavators.

Careful methods

Some commenters wonder how to locate a small object in such a large area. According to one of them:

“What matters is where the truck in your neighborhood dumps the trash. Each district has a collection area before transport to the landfill”

The owner also explained how she prevented a theft: she had informed the excavators that it was a diamond, inviting them to the greatest caution. This transparency seems to have contributed to the honesty of the people who came to help and the absence of any additional incidents.

Manipulated videos, such as Vladimir Putin announcing the restitution of Crimea, have been massively viewed. This information war is now evolving.

Vladimir Putin announcing the return of Crimea to Ukraine and his own resignation, or Volodymyr Zelensky declaring the complete surrender of his country: these totally fabricated videos, and others of the same type, have some been viewed millions of times on social networks. If Russia, in this area as in the military field, launched hostilities in 2014, Ukraine has now learned to use these methods – and other tools of informational warfare –, the objective of which is always to sow confusion among public opinion in the enemy country.
