A single-vehicle accident caused serious injuries to the three occupants early this Saturday morning in Sept-Îles. A passenger who was in the back is in critical condition.

Route 138 is closed near the airport (at Côte du Relais), with a detour onto Rue de la Rive in the Plages sector.

Sûreté du Québec police officers received the call at 5:15 a.m. for a road exit on the 138 east of Sept-Îles. The injured were transported to Sept-Îles Hospital.

The car left its lane to enter the ditch before hitting a culvert, describes SQ spokesperson Camille Savoie. She specifies that since impaired capacity may be a cause, the 16-year-old driver will have to take a blood test.

An SQ investigator is on site to study the scene and determine the exact causes of the accident.

The accident occurred near the entrance to Plage Lévesque. Route 138. was still closed around noon. (Photo Jean St-Pierre, Macotenord.com)
