A forum for the rehabilitation of mining sites in Africa | APAnews

The African Forum on the Environment in the Extractive Industries (FAFEIX) aims to generate constructive discussions, promote the establishment of strategic partnerships and encourage concrete actions in favor of a more sustainable and inclusive exploitation of natural resources on the African continent.

Organized by the NGO Agir pour l’environnement dans les industries extractives (AEIE), FAFEIX constitutes a special opportunity to bring together the main actors, namely government representatives, businesses, civil society, researchers as well as experts, with a view to addressing the challenges and opportunities inherent in the environmental and social management of extractive industries in Africa. Intended to be a vector of positive change, this event is resolutely part of an approach aimed at promoting green economic growth.

« Our vocation is to be a source of expertise for the renovation of extractive sites and to promote environmental and social practices within the African extractive sector. », justifies Bohoussou Kouakou Raymond, president of the NGO AEIE, cited in a press release received at APA.

According to Mr. Raymond, Africa is full of immense mining and energy resources. Like many countries on the continent, Côte d’Ivoire has enormous potential. “ From oil to natural gas, gold, diamonds, iron, bauxite and cobalt, these resources are at the heart of our economy », explains Mr. Bohoussou Kouakou Raymond, president of the NGO AEIE.

These significant mineral reserves make Côte d’Ivoire ripe for exploration and mining, as evidenced by the recent discovery of a large, world-class gold deposit in the northwest of the country. . It constitutes one of the main levers of growth of countries providing substantial income to States and creating jobs at national and local levels.
