Airstrikes carried out by the Israeli army on Monday in the Baalbek-Hermel governorate, located in eastern Lebanon, caused the death of at least 63 people and injured dozens of others. This tragic event was confirmed by the official Lebanese press agency.
The latter described the actions of the Israeli army in this region as “massacres”, stressing that the victims included women, children and the elderly. According to the report, more than 30 bombings hit various areas of Baalbek during the day on Monday.
Since the resumption of hostilities against various Lebanese factions, including Hezbollah, Israel has intensified its airstrikes across Lebanon. The escalation began after October 7, 2023, following the offensive against the Gaza Strip, with Israel expanding its scope to most of Lebanon, including Beirut.
In addition to the airstrikes, Israel is carrying out a ground attack in southern Lebanon, defying international warnings and the bravado of United Nations resolutions. This attack marks a new intensification in the regional conflict.
