Clashes between the Israeli army and Hezbollah reached a new level of violence on Monday, with massive Israeli strikes on the coastal town of Tyrand continued attacks by Hezbollah against Israeli military positions in northern Israel. The group also claimed to have carried out several rocket and artillery attacks against Israeli troops at the Gate of Fatimaa closed border crossing at Kfarkila, intensifying pressure on Israeli forces along the border.

During the night from Sunday to Monday, a raid in the center of Tire caused the death of seven people and injured 17 others. Monday’s attack left at least five more people dead and ten others injured in Tyre. Local rescue teams evacuated the injured and tried to contain the fires in the affected areas. Many civilian infrastructures, including residential apartments, were seriously damaged, intensifying the humanitarian crisis in the region.

Israel also expanded its strikes to other towns and villages in southern Lebanon, targeting Batoulay, Beit Leef, and al-Khiam, among others. In several border localities, buildings were dynamited by Israeli forces, worsening material damage and leading to further displacement of populations.

Hezbollah response in Israel

At the same time, Hezbollah claimed responsibility for a suicide drone attack on a military company in Yodfatin northern Israel, in homage to its former leader Hassan Nasrallah. The group also launched rocket salvos at the Israeli town of Kiryat Shmonathus amplifying the military tension between the two camps.

The humanitarian situation and the international community

Intensified strikes on civilian and heritage areas in Tire and rising border clashes pose a major challenge to the protection of civilians. Thousands of Lebanese residents, fleeing conflict zones, are crowding into temporary reception centers, exacerbating an already critical humanitarian crisis.
