Beijing – The Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans living abroad, Nasser Bourita, met, Wednesday in Beijing, with Wang Yi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China and member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party.

This interview is part of the positive dynamic experienced by bilateral relations since the signing of the strategic partnership declaration by His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist him, and His Excellency President Xi Jinping, at the on the occasion of the Royal Visit to Beijing in May 2016.

In this spirit, the two countries confirmed their clear, constant and reciprocal support on fundamental issues that affect the vital interests of the Kingdom of Morocco and the People’s Republic of China.

The two Ministers also welcomed the depth and richness of the relations of friendship and cooperation between the two countries and welcomed the dynamic and ambitious initiatives taken to strengthen bilateral political, economic and cultural ties.

This meeting was also an opportunity for both parties to examine the prospects for the development of economic and commercial exchanges, particularly those offered in Morocco’s Global Trades, through the encouragement of Chinese investments in the Kingdom.

In this regard, the Mohammed VI Tangier Tech City, launched on the occasion of the Royal Visit to Beijing in 2016, constitutes an ambitious project for an industrial and smart city, and illustrates the convergence of Moroccan and Chinese visions. This City aims to become a major hub for advanced technologies and new generation industrial projects. The growing Chinese investments recorded in the Kingdom, particularly in the electric mobility, automobile, renewable energy and infrastructure sectors, demonstrate the success of this initiative.

The meeting was also an opportunity to note the relaunch of Chinese tourist flows to Morocco, thanks to the Sovereign’s far-sighted decision to lift the visa requirement for Chinese citizens since June 1, 2016, which has considerably strengthened the cultural and human ties between the two friendly countries.

During this exchange, Mr. Bourita presented the recent Initiatives announced by His Majesty King Mohammed VI, in particular that which aims to promote the stability, security and economic prosperity of African countries bordering the Atlantic; the initiative to promote access of the Sahel States to the Atlantic Ocean as well as the strategic project of the Morocco-Nigeria gas pipeline which aims to strengthen regional integration and stimulate economic development along the African Atlantic coast and in -of the.

Mr. Wang Yi, for his part, praised the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI in favor of the stability and economic and social development of the Kingdom, and praised Morocco’s contribution to the promotion of peace and security. regional and international.

The two ministers welcomed the progress made under the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), with the signing of the 2017 Memorandum of Understanding and the Implementation Plan for joint construction of the BRI in 2022.

The discussions between Mr. Bourita and his Chinese counterpart also addressed several other regional and international issues of common interest.
