A man from Havelange killed by another Belgian in Thailand: they knew each other before their departure

A man from the province of Namur was shot dead on Friday evening in Thailand by another Belgian. The two men had known each other for a long time.

A 49-year-old Belgian national, who had gone to live in Thailand for several years, was shot dead with three 22 caliber bullets by another Belgian on Friday evening in Seka Tai, a town near the Laotian border, 700 km northeast of Bangkok.

The alleged murderer, 42 years old and also a long-time resident of this country, was arrested on Sunday and confessed. A financial dispute is at the origin of the facts, reported Monday Sudpresse and l’Avenir based on local media.

They knew each other

The victim, originally from Havelange in the province of Namur, and the alleged perpetrator already knew each other before their departure, the newspapers specify. The alleged murderer, originally from Hotton in the province of Luxembourg, then tried to hide the body by burning it. He also allegedly got rid of the victim’s motorcycle in a pond 60 kilometers away.
