XALIMANEWS-The former Director General of the National Lottery of Senegal (Lonase), currently in detention for embezzlement of public funds, extortion and money laundering, is facing precautionary measures imposed by the financial investigating judge responsible for his case .
According to information from L’Observateur, the magistrate requested the freezing of his bank accounts, which, according to his lawyers, contained modest sums intended for the maintenance of his family and loved ones.
The measures go beyond simply freezing accounts; the judge also ordered the seizure of several vehicles belonging to Lat Diop, some of which were already used by members of his family. OBS sources report that the investigating judge has even started proceedings to seize Lat Diop’s main residence and other real estate. According to the defense, Lat Diop would above all be the target of a political settling of scores, seeking to put him away from the public scene. It should be noted that agents of the Criminal Investigation Division (DIC) carried out a search at the home of the former CEO of Lonase on September 25, 2024, as part of the investigation into the 5 billion FCFA.
