A “lookalike”
Among the accused are Abdelali D., alias “Mehdi”, 48 years old. He came twice to the Pelicot home in Mazan (Vaucluse) in January and then March 2018, taken, at least once, by his partner at the time who had waited for him in the car.
He was arrested after being recognized by the partner of another accused questioned by the police on this case. Abdelali D. initially denied it, despite the presentation of photos of himself taken from videos filmed in the Pelicots’ bedroom, believing that he was a “look-alike”. On the first day of the hearing, however, he admitted the accusations.

After the incident, he suffered a stroke which left him partially hemiplegic.
Among the other accused presented this week are Patrice N., a 55-year-old electrician who during his interrogation had described Dominique Pelicot as “sick” but had not seen fit to warn the police so as not to “lose” a day at the police station; Florian R., a 32-year-old delivery driver claiming to have been “afraid” of Pelicot; Grégory S., 31, already convicted of possession of drugs, receiving stolen goods and violence in meetings; Quentin H., 34 years old, ex-police officer turned prison guard who admitted the facts.
“Sincerely sorry for madam”
Jean-Luc L., alias “jeanlucasiat”, a 46-year-old worker, the only one of these accused to appear detained, came twice in 2018 then 2019. He admitted the facts and said he was “sincerely sorry for Madame » at the opening of the trial.

For ten years, from July 2011 to October 2020, the septuagenarian had drugged his wife with anxiolytics and then raped her and had her raped by dozens of men he invited on the Internet.
Alongside him, 50 men, aged 26 to 74, are on trial in Avignon, most of them for aggravated rape, for which they face 20 years of criminal imprisonment.
Eighteen of these accused, including Dominique Pelicot, appear detained. Thirty-two appear free. A last one is on the run.
