Apple is now offering the Logic Pro update for download on both iPad and Mac, which adds artificial intelligence features. They were announced for the first time during the keynote on May 7.

Logic Pro features AI features

With Session Players, Stem Separator and ChromaGlow, Logic Pro for iPad and Mac is better than ever. Here are Apple’s notes for the Mac version (they’re similar on iPad):

AI-enhanced tools

  • New AI-enhanced tools join Smart Tempo and Tone Correction modules to increase your creativity
  • The Bass Player and Keyboard Player join the Drummer to complete the group of Session Player players, all created with the help of AI. This helps create performances that follow your directions
  • Session Players can follow the same chord sequence using the global chord track
  • Add warmth to your tracks with ChromaGlow, an advanced module featuring five saturation models designed to simulate the sound of retro analog gear*
  • Split a stereo audio file into stems for vocals, drums, bass and more with Stem Splitter*
  • Session Player, ChromaGlow, and Stem Separator are also built into Logic Pro for iPad 2, making it simple to move between projects created in Logic Pro for Mac

Sound library

  • Play any of six deeply sampled acoustic and electric basses with Studio Bass
  • Play three carefully sampled pianos with Studio Piano
  • Loops that contain chord markings automatically fill the chord track when added to a project
  • Three new producer packs are available: Hardwell, The Kount and Cory Wong
  • The multi-track project “Swing! “, by Ellie Dixon, is available as a demo song in the app

Spatial audio

  • Downmix and trim options let you custom mix for non-Atmos channel setups
  • Exported ADM BWF files have been developed beyond Dolby Atmos and may contain settings for stereo or multichannel formats

Improvements

  • Bounce in Place adds automatic real-time recordings for external instrument regions or tracks that use external hardware using Logic’s I/O module
  • MIDI generated by compatible software instruments and effects can be routed to the input of other songs for creative composition during playback or recording
  • Edit your songs more easily with key controls to move, expand or resize selection rectangles

Logic Pro for iPad is available for free download from the App Store. However, you need a subscription of €4.99/month or €49/year to use the application. On Mac, the application is available on the Mac App Store for €229.99.
