The National Agency for Civil Aviation and Meteorology (ANACIM) has issued an alert for severe weather conditions for the next 24 hours, valid from October 9, 2024 at noon until October 10, 2024 at the same time. Thunderstorms accompanied by moderate to locally heavy rain are expected over a large part of Senegalese territory.

The southern regions, such as Kédougou, Kolda, Sédhiou and Ziguinchor, should be the most affected by these bad weather, while the central (Kaffrine, Fatick, Kaolack, Linguère, Louga) and central-western regions (Dakar, Thiès , Diourbel) will also experience thunderstorms, particularly during the night until the morning of Thursday.

The North and East of the country will not be spared, with weaker but regular rainfall, ranging from weak to moderate. At the same time, humid heat will persist in several areas, with maximum temperatures oscillating between 34°C and 38°C, particularly in localities in the Center, North and East.

Winds will blow from the West to South-West with moderate intensity, while visibilities will generally remain good across the territory. Populations are urged to take the necessary precautions due to the risk of flooding in the areas most affected by the heavy rains.
