It is the strategy of “self-affirmation” which has imposed itself in the eyes of the PLR of the of Geneva. Gathered in a general assembly on evening, its members unanimously approved the proposal to present only one candidate in the 2025 municipal elections. An offer had been sent to them by The Center and the Green Liberals, who will make a joint list . This ultimately did not have the favor of the PLR.

“We have a strong base in the city of Geneva and we count on our own values to make the difference,” explains Maxime Provini, elected head of the municipal section at the same general assembly. In this sense, our members did not consider it appropriate to form an alliance, for the first round at least.” The largest opposition party, the PLR has the stated objective of reconquering the seat lost on the Administrative Council in 2012, when it was occupied by Pierre Maudet. Since then, the City of Calvin has only one representative of the center right. With the announced departure of Sami Kanaan (PS) and the setbacks surrounding Verte Frédérique Perler, the 2025 municipal elections promise to be contested.
