Thierry Neuville takes a big step towards the title

Thierry Neuville has lost points to his rivals in Chile, but he maintains a comfortable lead with just two rallies remaining this season. The Belgian certainly took six points less than Elfyn Evans and five less than Ott Tänak this weekend, but he scored three more than Sébastien Ogier, who had another bad operation.

Neuville has a strong chance of being titled in the next round, the Central Europe Rally. To do this, he will have to score one more point than Tänak and lose less than 11 on Ogier and 16 on Evans.

For once, the new scale saw the winner of the rally score significantly more points than his rivals, Kalle Rovanperä having added to his harvest second place in the Super Sunday and the Power Stage, each time behind Ogier , who only collected points this Sunday.

The Toyota double offers a tightening in the lead among the manufacturers, since Hyundai’s lead is halved, going from 35 to 27 points.

The 2024 scale

As a reminder, the perfect score is always 30 points.

  • The top 10 on Saturday evening receive in order 18-15-13-10-8-6-4-3-2 and 1 points.
  • One condition, however, to score Saturday’s points: finish the rally on Sunday.
  • The top 7 on Sunday alone is rewarded with 7-6-5-4-3-2 and 1 point.
  • The Power Stage alone always yields 5-4-3-2 and 1 point for the five fastest during this final special.
  • Each manufacturer records the points of its two best designated representatives each day.
