The 24-year-old rapper was driving on the evening of Tuesday, September 10, when he hit a heavy goods vehicle. His front passenger died.

Rapper Koba LaD, involved in a fatal accident in Créteil on the night of Tuesday to Wednesday, was under the influence of “narcotics” at the time of the incident, the Créteil prosecutor’s office said on Thursday, September 12, when contacted by AFP.

“Not yet” taken into custody due to his hospitalization Thursday morning, the artist was at the wheel during this accident which killed one of his passengers. An investigation has been opened for “involuntary manslaughter by driver” and “involuntary injuries by driver”, the prosecution said.

The car hit a heavy goods vehicle

The 24-year-old artist, who lives in Essonne, was leaving a studio and taking a friend home when he hit a heavy goods vehicle, his lawyers told BFMTV. The front passenger, born in 1994, died, the prosecutor’s office confirmed, indicating that the rear passenger, born in 1999, was slightly injured.

Physically, Koba LaD and the other passenger “are shaken”, but they are “fine”, according to the medical report cited by his lawyers. The driver of the heavy goods vehicle hit was also “slightly injured”, the prosecution added.

In 2020, Koba LaD was sentenced to three months in prison, suspended, and 140 hours of community service for a car accident in Marseille. He fled after the incident, before reporting to the police three days later.

He was also given a four-month driving ban during an appearance on prior admission of guilt (plea bargaining procedure).
