The Taxawu Senegaal coalition has been keen to dispel recent rumours spread by some media outlets. Contrary to what has been reported, Khalifa Ababacar Sall, leader of the coalition, did not visit the Socialist Party House to formalise any alliance. This visit was part of a series of meetings that the former mayor of Dakar is holding with various political parties and coalitions to discuss prospects for Senegal’s political future.

In a statement, Taxawu Senegaal recalled that official channels are in place to ensure the dissemination of accurate and verified information regarding these exchanges. The coalition also called on the media and the public to stick to these official sources to avoid any confusion.

In parallel, rumors circulated during the day on Saturday, reporting the formation of a broad political coalition to confront the presidential movement during the legislative elections of November 17. It was reported that Amadou Ba, who came second in the last presidential election with 38% of the vote, had allied himself with Aminata Mbengue Ndiaye of the Socialist Party and Khalifa Sall. However, the latter formally denied any alliance at this stage, stating that no coalition has been sealed for the moment.
