These four scenarios of increased Western support for Ukraine

DECRYPTION – The West still refuses to allow kyiv to strike deep into Russian territory, while the Ukrainian army is retreating in Donbass.

The months of open war between Russia and Ukraine are dragging on, with no prospect of victory appearing. The West, however, has overcome all its reluctance and delivered weapons “offensive”armored vehicles, tanks and now planes. Despite important tactical victories – Kherson and Kharkiv in 2022 – kyiv is inexorably retreating in the Donbass. To reverse the trend, Volodymr Zelensky, the Ukrainian president, is requesting authorization to strike deep into Russian territory with missiles delivered by his allies.

and especially the United Kingdom seemed in favor, but the United States is still reluctant. The visit of Keir Starmer, the British Prime Minister, to Joe Biden on September 14 seemed to open the door. But no decision has been officially taken. Three days earlier, the American and British foreign ministers had not announced any authorization during a trip to kyiv. On the other hand, they reiterated their desire to place Ukraine in a good position for possible negotiations.
