Tourism: Canadian boycott would cost billions in the United States

The slightest boycotting movement for Canadian tourists would cause tourism loss of income of at least $ 2.1 billion per year in the United States.
This is the evaluation that the US Travel Association makes in a press release relayed this morning by Pax Nouvelles, a publication specializing in the coverage of the travel industry.
The US Travel Association estimates that the imposition of new customs tariffs could very well have the consequence of reducing the number of Canadians’ visits to the United States.
A risk that is all the more important to consider, she says, that Canada remains the main market for international visitors to the United States, with 20.4 million visits in 2024.
That year, American tourist getaways made it possible to generate no less than US $ 20.5 billion in tourist expenses and, in doing so, supporting 140,000 American jobs.
Thus, according to the US Travel Association, a decrease of 10% in the number of Canadian visitors would result in two million less visits, income loss of US $ 2.1 billion and the abolition of no less than 14,000 jobs.
