TZUYU talked about his solo, a few hours before its release!
On September 5, and in anticipation of the release of her imminent solo album, the TWICE member met the media at a press conference.
Wanting to lose her image as TWICE’s maknae, she expressed at the conference:
“I want people to see me as the sexy and mature solo singer Tzuyu, rather than the cute maknae of TWICE. I know that people associate me with a smiling and cute image when they first think of me. So, this album is about showing all the sides of myself that I haven’t shown before. There’s a sexier side, and also a playful and cheeky song as well as a sentimental ballad on the album, so I can express all the different emotions that are inside me.”
The singer also spoke about her title track, and how she wanted to take on a challenge with the track, saying:
“I loved the title track from the first moment I heard it. The melody was so catchy and the bass sound was so unique. I wondered if I could pull it off, but I chose to go ahead with it because I wanted the chance to show fans something different.”
For this first solo opus, TZUYU also started writing.
When asked about the subject, she revealed:
“I wanted to express the things I felt in my life. That’s why I participated in writing the lyrics of a song, because it’s my album and I thought it would give it more meaning if I participated more deeply in its creation. I also wanted to share my stories with my fans.”
Finally, the TWICE member spoke about the new experience of promoting herself solo, confessing:
“The members were so supportive and I could ask them for advice whenever I was worried. Watching the members and other singers on stage made me wonder what it would be like for me to be on stage by myself. I gained both the courage and the passion to do so. So I’m grateful for the chance to show a diverse side of myself. I want to find the best in myself through this experience. I hope I can do that by taking the things I’ve learned and showing them through my music.”
