Faith No More bassist Billy Gould recently shared his thoughts on the band’s current state, hinting that the future of the Alternative Metal outfit remains uncertain.
A “strange” situation and a unclear future
Faith No More, one of the most influential bands in alternative metal history, appears to be on an extended hiatus, if not a semi-permanent hiatus, as keyboardist Roddy Bottum declared last October. In a recent interview with Future RadioBilly Gould revealed that the group is going through a complicated period: “Honestly, I don’t know. And you don’t have to believe me, but there’s nothing [de nouveau]… Right now we’re in a really strange situation, a very weird situation, and I can’t really tell you what’s going on. I don’t know myself. I get different information from different people, and yet I am part of the group, so…”
These statements add an extra layer of uncertainty for fans who were hoping for a return to the stage or a new album.

A strong comeback in 2009, but persistent challenges
After a break of almost twelve years, Faith No More reformed in 2009, before releasing The Invincible Sun in 2015. However, the pandemic deeply affected the band, forcing them to cancel many dates.
-Mike Patton, the charismatic frontman, revealed that he struggled with mental health issues, including severe agoraphobia developed during this time. Although he has returned to the stage with his other project, Mr. Bungle, the future of Faith No More remains unclear.
Billy Gould also joked about his role in the band, saying that if he actually had the power to decide, Faith No More would already be playing new shows.
